More Changes to come

Hello! As you can see the website has gone through some changes. I hope that things feel and look more organized. Don't get too comfortable though!! I am working on making this site more responsive (a word that is new to me in this context) so the experience is universal.

I've been undecided about how to move forward until recently. I am at a point in my career where I could conceivably make more books until I am unable and while I am passionate about being a creator, defining what that means requires a different approach.

In 2021 I will be launching Shabazz Arts LLC my own small press company.

I have always self-published and worked primarily independently so this isn't exactly new territory for me but there are new challenges and opportunities to consider. What I'd like the next part of my path to be focused on is opening the door for other artists while keeping marginalized people front and center.

This is me putting my money where my mouth is and publishing books from artists I believe in that carry a message. My goal isn't to dominate anything or be the next whatever, either. Shabazz Arts is about the substance of sequential art/visual narrative and the artists that are dedicated to this medium while not looking down on comics as a stepping stone to greater things. I plan to start small and relatively slow but I am in this for the long haul.

Shabazz Arts will be a home for comic book artists and writers that love and value what they do. If any of this sounds appealing then in the near future perhaps we will work together. I am not ready to share everything that I have in the works, however, I will continue to update this blog on a monthly basis for the remainder of the year. until October, I hope you all are being safe when you can and taking care when you must.
